Elder Johnson

Elder Nate Johnson has just completed his eleventh month in the mission. All of his companions have been Latino which means he has learned Spanish quickly and efficiently. He just completed his fourth month in Managua in the Lezcano district as a district leader and trainer. His first “son” (as he refers to his green companion) just got transferred to a new area and has been replaced with another Latino from Guatemala that’s been in the mission for seventeen months.

He continues to write upbeat letters with a bit of humor in each one. He is working hard and teaching a lot. However, he is discouraged at times at the vices the Nicaraguans face – mainly alcohol. If it wasn’t for that Word of Wisdom problem, tons would be baptized. As much as he loves to sing, he hasn’t had much of a chance to do so. However, he is almost always called on to play the piano – Sacrament Meetings, Zone Meetings, Mission Conferences, etc. He really misses using his voice though.

He wanted us to thank his family and friends for their prayers in his and all the other missionaries behalf. It’s a war zone out there against Satan’s throng, and prayer is the one thing that really helps!

Salsa day

Today Teresa came over to make salsa with me. We got several jars done. Then we started talking about blogs and decided that I needed to start my own. Yipee... lots to learn but she gave me my first lesson in blogging. Hopefully I can remember what she taught me.

The kids are doing great. Nolan, Nevin, Shaylene and Neal are all in school. Nick works everyday at Nielsons. Sometimes he works at night, sometimes during the day. I usually try and put him to work when he is at home during the day. Nate is still on his mission and doing great. He's a little discouraged because he is still in the same area but he just plugs along.

All is well.... until the next time... Mignon over and out!!!
